The general research interest of my laboratory is mitotic cell division, which is one of the most fundamental aspects of biology. Precise chromosome segregation during cell division is necessary to maintain genome integrity, and errors in this process lead to chromosomal instability and aneuploidy which may contribute to tumorigenesis. Our overall research goal is to define the molecular mechanisms ensuring accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis. We are particularly interested in the centromere regulatory network underlying the coordination among key mitotic events of sister chromatid cohesion, kinetochore-microtubule attachments and spindle checkpoint signaling.
