刘颖博士2006年毕业于南京大学生物化学系,2011年在美国西南医学中心获得博士学位,随后在Massachusetts General HospitalHarvard Medical School做博士后研究,并于2014年获得哈佛中国生命科学年度杰出研究奖,现为北京大学分子医学研究所研究员。主要从事于线粒体质量控制和营养感觉机制的相关研究。在Nature, Science, Mol. Cell,Nat. Struct. Mol. Biol. , Mol. Cell Biol. , RNA, Toxicology等国际知名学术期刊发表多篇研究论文。

讲座摘要:
Mitochondria play essential and pervasive roles in biology. The proper function of mitochondria is actively challenged by intrinsic stimuli, or by extrinsic pathogens and xenobiotics. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been implicated in aging and numerous diseases such as neurodegeneration, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. However, it remains unclear as what constitute the mitochondrial quality control pathways that sense mitochondrial dysfunction, activate repair program and mitochondrial biogenesis, and eliminate damaged mitochondrial. Our lab utilizes the model organism C. elegans to identify factors involved in these pathways, and showed that animals defective in ceramide or mevalonate biosynthesis are deficient in mitochondrial surveillance. Understanding the mitochondrial quality control will hold great promise for the therapeutics of mitochondrial disorders and age-related diseases.
